Food, Beverage & Pharmaceutical Industries
Noise & Vibration Assessments, Mitigation and Approvals
Facilities that produce foods, beverages, and pharmaceuticals have unique noise and vibration challenges not seen in other industries. Good Manufacturing Practice (“GMP”), places tight restrictions on the types of noise control materials and methods that can be used, so that the quality and purity of the product are maintained. In these industries, many of the raw ingredients and finished products are perishable, requiring large cooling and clean climate control systems, often with noisy outdoor and indoor components: boilers, fluid-coolers, air-cooled chillers, spiral-freezers, autoclaves, and HEPA filtered air-cleaning systems. As well, the processes for formulating and preparing food goods, beverages and pharmaceutical products often entail high temperatures, high pressures, flash freezing, drying, and precise measurement of ingredients. All of these complexities can introduce noise and vibration issues, and make controlling those issues especially challenging.
Having worked with many of the largest North American brands in foods, beverages, and pharmaceuticals, HGC understands these industries, and their noise and vibration ramifications. We have worked with industry leaders in support of their applications for new plant developments and expansions, offering both assessment and mitigation know-how as well as expert testimony during municipal board hearings. Furthermore, we have addressed occupational nose exposure concerns and investigated and resolved unexpected or premature equipment failures caused by damaging vibration dynamics.
