Petr Chocensky PhD, PEng Associate, Senior Acoustical Engineer

Petr specializes in development of noise control solutions for mechanical equipment at industrial and commercial operations. His clients will have the confidence that the exact equipment requiring noise abatement will be identified and the most appropriate solutions found. He uses state-of-the-art techniques, including sound intensity methods and computer modelling of sound propagation, to ensure that the noise under consideration belongs to the operation under assessment – and not something else. He has developed detailed noise control plans for hundreds of facilities – small and large. His work for the St Marys Cement, McInnis Plant, Shell’s Sarnia Manufacturing Centre or TransAlta’s Sarnia Regional Cogeneration Plant demonstrates the complexity of a few projects he has undertaken.

Besides his focus on solutions for industrial facilities, Petr’s skills are perfectly tuned to addressing noise control issues related to environmental and workplace noise at schools, hospitals, and commercial and residential developments, as demonstrated by his work at One Bloor, MaRS Discovery District, Women’s College Hospital, and Lakeridge Health. These skills and experience make Petr our in-house specialist in completing documentation to support applications for regulatory noise approvals and addressing requirements of the occupational health and safety guidelines.

Another cornerstone of his specialization covers assessments of large traffic infrastructure projects, including roads, railways, and airports. He has undertaken multiple national-scale noise mapping projects using computer modelling. His exposure to regulatory environments in North America, including Québec, and within the European Union was critical in evaluation of approaches to application of noise criteria around the world, developed for internal use of the International Financial Institution of the World Bank.

Fluent proficiency in both French and English allow Petr to competently serve our clients across North America, including the province of Québec.
