Sofia Airport is the main international airport of Bulgaria, located 10 km east of the centre of the capital Sofia. In 2019 the airport surpassed 7 million passengers for the first time.

Airport Noise Action Plan (NAP)

On behalf of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) — a member of the World Bank Group, HGC reviewed the Sofia Airport Noise Action Plan (NAP) developed by a third-party consultant. The NAP was prepared to comply with the requirements of Environmental Noise Directive 2002/49/EC, which is required once a civil airport of a member state has more than 50,000 movements (take-offs or landings). Sofia Airport (SOF) achieved this volume threshold in 2016.
