Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada
Owner: Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
Operator: Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo
Construction Management: Clark Riley Construction Management
HGC was contracted to conduct attended vibration during pile driving and to install and monitor wireless remote vibration sensors at the development site during excavation and construction of a major expansion to MacDonald Island Park, Canada’s largest community recreational, leisure, and social centre. The new expansion known as Shell Place, will include a conference centre, an outdoor performance stadium, shared non-profit space, a turf field house and a tournament centre. Shell Place will also be connected to the main complex via a new skywalk. Of particular concern was the potential impact of construction vibration on the existing complex’s elaborate and expansive pool system.
