Lima Jorge Chávez International Airport is the largest airport in Peru and is the main domestic and international gateway to the country’s capital, Lima. It is located in Callao about 12km from Lima’s city center, the nation’s capital city. The Airport invested around US$1.6 billion to increase the airport’s capacity. When the expansion project is complete, the hub will have a new traffic control tower, two runways, and two terminals, and will be able to handle up to 37 million passengers per year. The new control tower and second runway were delivered in July 2022, while the new Terminal will be finished sometime in 2025.
Airport Environmental Noise Impact
HGC was contracted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) — a member of the World Bank Group, to review an assessment prepared by a third-party consultant on the environmental Noise Impact of the airport expansion project. The proposal was broken into two stages: detailed noise monitoring, modelling and assessment, and an update of the airport’s noise mitigation plan.
