Mandy Chan BASc, PEng Associate, Senior acoustical consultant
Mandy has conducted noise impact studies for hundreds of developments across Ontario in support of municipal approvals such as Official Plan Amendments and applications for zoning amendments. That work usually entails developing noise control recommendations to satisfy the noise guidelines of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change specific municipal noise requirements. She has a decade of experience in assessing environmental noise and vibration for proposed residential, commercial and industrial developments
Her expertise includes conducting land use compatibility studies for large scale land developments such as Brookfield’s Pinehurst Subdivision and providing noise control recommendations such as separation distances for commercial and industrial developments adjacent to residential lands and vice versa, glazing and ventilation requirements for the residential units and noise barriers which can be considered during the early planning process prior to detailed site design.
Recent project of note include noise studies for a FedEx Ground Distribution Centre in support of Zoning by-law amendments through to final Site Plan approvals, as well as a facility that became an Amazon Fulfillment Centre where Mandy was also involved in a settlement between existing nearby residences and the land developer to satisfy municipal requirements for noise control.
