The Robarts Research Institute at The University of Western Ontario is a non-profit medical research facility that investigates some debilitating diseases such as heart disease and stroke to diabetes, Alzheimer’s and many forms of cancer. It is also well known for its advanced medical imaging research.
HGC initially provided vibration isolation design assistance during the installation of the an MRI in the existing building. Later, as part of a state-of-the-art building expansion – doubling space available for research to nearly 200,000 sq. ft, a mechanical design review was conducted to identify suitable noise and vibration control measures for mechanical equipment, and vibration measurements and analysis were conducted with respect to the placement of a second MRI. Vibration measurements and analysis were also undertaken to help develop structural requirements for the placement of a third MRI.
Acoustical consulting services delivered:
- Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Impact Insulation Class (IIC) testing
- Vibration Isolation of Sensitive Equipment
- Building Services Noise and Vibration control (HVAC Systems, Pumps, Compactors,Generators, etc)
- Structural Vibration Assessment
