Jubail Island, Master-Planned Community, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Owner: Jubail Island Investment Company
Developer: LEAD Development
Jubail Island is a key nature reserve and new development in Abu Dhabi set among the mangroves between Saadiyat and Yas islands. The mega project will include a culture island and an entertainment island. It will also have six residential village estates covering more than 400 hectares and will be home to 10,000 residents within four years. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023.
The Island’s master-planed community is proposed to include villas, row townhouses, office buildings, Mosques, a school, sports complex, green spaces with landscaped walkways and cycle paths, supermarkets, nurseries, a community club, specialized clinics and other commercial establishments.
HGC was contracted to assess the impact of traffic noise on the proposed residential dwellings at Jubail Island. The primary transportation noise source in the area includes road traffic noise on Highway E12. The road traffic noise study was conducted in accordance with UAE Regulation EN-12.0: Noise Control and International standards (including British Standard Institute (“BSI”) Publication BS 8233:2014). To mitigate sound levels from nearby road traffic in rear yard amenity spaces of villas and townhomes, acoustic barrier options were recommended. Central air conditioning was also proposed for residences closest to the highway along with upgraded window glazing constructions.
