Great Yarmouth Power Station, UK

UK acoustical consultant for great-yarmouth-power-station-noise-measurements

Location: Norfolk, England
Engineers: Bechtel Corporation

Great Yarmouth is a gas-fired power station that is one of the most efficient in Europe. At full power, Great Yarmouth generates 400MW (megawatts) of electricity: enough to meet the needs of some 400,000 people — about half the population of Norfolk.

HGC solved a structure-borne community noise problem for this combined cycle power plant. Sound intensity techniques, surface-structural intensity measurements, and vibration analysis methods were used to identify the source of the problem.

Acoustical consulting services delivered:

  • Community Noise Complaint Investigation
  • Detailed Noise Measurements
  • Vibration Analysis
  • Noise and Vibration Mitigation
