Owens Corning Fiberglas Plant

production-plant-noise-abatement-action-plan

Location:  Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Owner/Operator: Owens Corning

This Toronto facility manufactures Owens Corning’s popular PINK FIBERGLAS®  insulation products in Canada.

HGC undertook an acoustic assessment of this large scale production facility in 2004 to 2006, both toward consolidating the environmental approvals and in anticipation of process expansion. The expansions were completed in 2005, with no net increase to the sound emissions of the facility. We have also done similar noise assessments at Owen Corning’s plant in Guelph, Ontario.

Acoustical consulting services delivered:

  • Conducted detailed acoustical assessments and audits in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment procedures
  • Utilized novel measurements of stack-wall vibration to estimate sound emissions from the tops of stacks that were to tall to reach using conventional means
  • Specified noise controls
  • Developed Noise Abatement Action Plan  (NAAP)
