The Davis Centre for Healthy Communities is home to the Athletic Therapy and Practical Nursing Programs of Sheridan College and serves 1,800 students a year. The 84,000 square foot building offers state-of-the-art teaching labs designed to immerse students in realistic settings. It includes 14 classrooms, 13 mock labs, a large lecture theatre, faculty offices and student support areas.
In addition the building features a 10,000 square foot integrated Athletic Therapy Centre with a therapy pool, Human Performance Lab, an Exercise Institute and Research Centre and Human Anatomy Lab. It also incorporates an 8,000 square foot Nursing Lab with three nursing pods housing 24 hospital beds.
The $19 Million facility is also designed to earn a LEED Silver ceritification and includes a sunlit greenwall system to provide fresh air and an innovative façade that balances aesthetics and energy efficiency.
HGC provided acoustical services during design, construction and commissioning to meet stringent acoustical targets.
