The Bay Adelaide Centre is an office complex located at the corner of Toronto’s Bay and Adelaide, putting it at the very epicentre of Canadian business. The first phase, a 51-storey skyscraper known as Bay Adelaide West, was completed in July 2009 and was Toronto’s first LEED Gold certified high-rise office building. This prestigious and prominent “AAA” class commercial property incorporates the historic façade of a designated heritage building into its structure. HGC provided acoustical design assistance throughout design and construction. The second phase, the 44-storey, LEED Platinum targeted Bay Adelaide East, was completed in 2015. For this second phase, HGC designed the vibration isolation system for the podium building adjacent to the Yonge Street TTC subway line, as well as acoustical consulting services for the design of the tower, including noise and vibration solution strategies for a remote cooling plant, stand-by power facilities, and multiple mid and high rise express elevators.
