HGC provided comprehensive acoustical consulting services for this multi-level major fit-out of Bank of Montreal’s flagship branch at First Canadian Place in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District. The renovation upgrade incorporated current best-practices in office and branch design such as replacing private offices and meeting rooms with free meeting areas or working “hives” of banking activity. The project took 16-months, and was done in 5-phases so the branch could remain in operation during construction.
The upgrade featured a banking hall, circulation area, open desks, “Hive” Zones, private offices, meeting rooms and tellers’ stations.
Acoustical Consulting Services Included:
- Design review of tenant mechanical system to achieve the target background noise levels
- Architectural control of noise from tenant equipment areas within the contract area (e.g., computer rooms, kitchen/server, photocopy area, etc.)
- Sound insulation values of demising assemblies within the tenant space, and at the tenant demising lines
- Interior acoustical treatments and sound masking for privacy and acoustics of meeting rooms, open office/workstation areas, teller stations, reception.
