Originally built in the 1950’s, this 10-storey, 501,527 sq.ft. building located at 25 St. Clair East underwent a major $277 million renovation that was completed in 2023. The LEED Platinum Certified building now serves as the flagship Government of Canada Building in the Ontario Region, housing about 1,500 employees. It also accommodates several government departments and agencies, including Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB). State-of-the art sustainability features help reduce the building’s greenhouse gas emissions by over 80% making the building one of the first federal “carbon neutral” buildings in Canada. HGC Engineering provided comprehensive acoustical consulting and design guidance as this former outdates heritage building was transformed into a modern environmentally sustainable office building.
